Essene Newsletter

More than 2100 years ago, in a region we call today the Middle East, a handful of people came together and decided to form a community. They lived in the Qumran Caves and became known as the Essenes. Yasha J. Lavie has been channelling their consciousness since 1997.

A New Beginning

For many years I've written only the occasional newsletter, but now, with the colleges expanding rapidly, it's time to write one on a regular basis. I feel inspired by this new format (I hope you like it too). So from now, March 2009, I will inform you about our activities every month. In each issue we will have a short story, a few words from the Essenes, and sometimes a bit of "gossip", because that's what we all naturally love.

I feel honoured and blessed to channel the Essenes and teach their wisdom. I hope that you will join me on this wonderful journey: it's the spiritual path in physical reality. I'd like to start with the words of the Teacher, the Head of the Essene Brotherhood: "I would like to speak today about the Truth...", he would start. And then he would pause...with all of us, spellbound, listening to the sound of silence that resounded throughout the caves. After a while, he would open his mouth and conclude, in his beautiful, deep, gentle voice, a few tears running down his angular face: "The Truth is unspoken".

What a beautiful way to start a lesson.

An Experience in Costa Rica

In January, I travelled with my son to South America . One of our destinations was a beautiful country: Costa Rica . All I knew about Costa Rica was that it is the only country in the world not to have an official army. For someone born in a country where all men and women without exception join the army, that was of course a memorable fact.

During the fourth day in San Jose I was walking by myself at a market for tourists, tempted by the beautiful crafts and wondering how much room there was left in my suitcase. Suddenly, without any warning, the earth began trembling and the shelves stacked with vibrantly colourful material and finely inlaid wooden bowls and boxes started shaking and disintegrating: I was witnessing a powerful earthquake. It lasted about five to seven seconds. I vividly remember how, during these seconds the thought crossed my mind that it was simply impossible for my guides to have arranged my death as a result of an earthquake at a market in San Jose. I didn't move. I just stood there, a smile in my heart in spite of the seriousness of the situation. As I saw people running in all directions, I felt no fear. It was an experience to see people streaming out of the buildings into the streets and crowding together at the nearest open space, united suddenly in the wake of this natural disaster - temporarily a little closer to Oneness. I was sitting on a bench and thought: "Why do we need these events to bring us together?"

It was not the first time I contemplated this, but it's hard to find an answer.

Essene College 2009

At the moment we are running two colleges of Essene Healing: in Auckland and in Sydney. At the end of March, the first students will complete the two-year course in Auckland. Those who decided to continue will embark on a new adventure, a follow-on course, starting in May. The Essenes have announced it as a course in "Mysticism". I can't wait to hear what they have in store for us.

In April a second class will start in Sydney to accommodate all the new students. It's wonderful, this growing interest in the Essenes in Sydney .

The first Essene seminar in London is planned for October in preparation for a new branch of our college, which I hope will open its doors some time in 2010. I'm looking forward to introducing the Essenes in Europe so they can share their ideas with people over there as well as in this part of the world.

And lastly, from April there will be a new website essenecollege.com. Please look at it next month. You will find stories, information on the colleges, my schedule and plans and much more.
